The New Girl is the second book in the children's series Allie Finkle's Rules for Girls, written by Meg Cabot. It is narrated from Allie Finkle's point of view, in the first person.

Allie Finkle is excited about starting school at Pine Heights, but is dismayed when rough Rosemary threatens to beat her up. Rosemary doesn't do this, but she constantly teases Allie when she can and reminds her of what she's going to do to her. Luckily, Allie's friends back her up, but things go downhill at her home when her prim-and-proper grandmother, Ruth, comes to visit.

It's hard being the new girl and being threatened on your first day, but will Allie survive? Can she stand up to Rosemary with useful advice? Not if she keeps listening to her family, that's for sure! But just in case she gets stuck in a situation like this again, or if she needs a refresher along the way, Allie will have to come up with a whole set of brand new rules to put in her spiral notebook!
