The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch

DescriptionEdit

Mr Grinling is a lighthouse keeper. Every day Mrs Grinling makes him a delicious lunch and sends it to the lighthouse on a special cable from their cottage on the cliff top. But the greedy seagulls keep stealing the lighthouse keeper's lunch...

A great time to add some simple science by looking at pulleys. The children might enjoy an attempt to create their own system for "a lunch in a basket".

Reader's ReviewsEdit

1Edit

A classic picture book that will stand reading over and over again. The text is surprisingly advanced for what looks at first glance like a very simple picture book. The bright illustrations and inventive text work very well together, and there are lots of little details in the illustrations that appeal to the parent as well as the child.
