Silver Serpent, Golden Sword is a novel by Jean Cullop, and is the last book in the Tales of Karensa series. The book takes the form of a Christian allegorical fantasy, much in the style of C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia, minus the talking animals. The book follows Luke and his sister Rosie once again going back to Karensa. Here, they meet up with Petroc and his sister Morwen, their friends from their previous adventures.

A kind of madness came upon Petroc as he watched the man begin to paint a serpent on the farmhouse wall. "You shall not do this!" he yelled and knocked paint and brush from the soldier's hands. All the children's pent-up feelings exploded and they joined in pelting the soldiers. "Seize the red-headed boy! He is the ring-leader!" shouted the soldiers' leader. Petroc did not give them time to seize him. He leapt on the nearest horse, grabbing the axe from the woodpile and rode off at breakneck speed into the Dark Forest, shouting that no-one would ever take his farm.

The fourth and last book in the Tales of Karensa series is a quite stunning climax to a wonderful stories. Although near the end the book had in tears, I still really enjoyed it - and it did have a happy ending in the end.

Some violence.
Extremely sad near the end, where one of the four main characters (Luke, Rosie, Petroc and Morwen) dies - but the book ends happily with the character going to the King's palace in happiness.
