South Africa at the turn of the century. Young David Crawfurd, his studies interrupted by his father's death, is off to earn his living as a storekeeper in the country.
But a strange encounter and the whispers he hears on his journey persaude him that Blaauwildebeestefontein may not be as safe as first seemed.
Dark deeds and treacherous intrigues are afoot - all bound up with the mysterious and primeval kingdom of Prester John. Mysteries to which David Crawfurd holds the key...
An excellent book about a Zulu uprising in the heart of South Africa. Although completely and utterly impossible, it is good fun, and a good read. However, I would say that on occasion the descriptions are slightly over the top and graphic. I thought that it was extremely similar to King Solomon's Mines.
