Owl Babies

DescriptionEdit

Owl Babies is a children's picture book, written by Martin Waddell, illustrated by Patrick Benson, and published in 1992.

Once there were three baby owls: Sarah and Percy and Bill. They lived in a hole in the trunk of a tree with their Owl Mother. The hole had twigs and leaves and owl feathers in it. It was their house.

One night they woke up and their Owl Mother was GONE! What will happen?

A beautiful picture book with each double page being a whole picture.

Reader's ReviewsEdit

1 Edit

This is a lovely book to read to a young child. The pictures are excellent, the text is simple but effective, and every child will identify with the smallest owl baby, Bill, who just says "I want my Mummy"... The picture of them all welcoming her home is charming.

2Edit

This is a really lovely book that has so many aspects to it. It is well written and nicely illustrated to reflect the text. I really like Bill's repetition of 'I want my mummy!', as not only could children relate to this, but towards the end of the book, they could start predicting what Bill would say and join in with the story. This book covers a range of themes that could be explored with children such as separation, relationships, fear, anxiety and patience.
