Santa Claus decides not to deliver presents after being disillusioned by the lack of belief in him. It's up to Mrs. Claus to show him that there is still Christmas spirit in the world and that his job is still worth doing.
This book has been adapted in various forms of media. Boris Karloff recorded the story in 1968 for Capital Records. However, Rankin/Bass' television special in 1974 is the most well known and stills airs during the holiday season. A live action adaption of the special was made in 2006 with mixed reviews.
