Short Summary (from Book)[]

The humorous adventures of a foolish family whose problems are righted by the Lady from Philadelphia.

Summary[]

The Peterkin family does several foolish things and are often confused and often face misunderstandings. It never occurs to them to make a new cup of coffee when one cup of coffee has salt in it, nor does it occur to them to turn the piano around when it is placed with the keys next to a window. Any time they want to learn something, they are sidetracked into a muddle of things that they want to learn, while never really learning what they needed to know. The Lady from Philadelphia helps them out whenever she is visiting their neighborhood, and they more or less get by.
