Description[]

Quest for the King (sometimes incorrectly printed as The Quest for the King) is a fantasy book, written by John White, and published in 1995. It is the fifth book in The Archives of Anthropos series, both in publication order and in chronological order.

Wesley, Lisa and Kurt—the main characters of the previous two books in the series—once again return to Anthropos, along with their cousin, Mary (who featured in the fourth book, The Iron Sceptre). A new king is prophesied to arrive, under the power of the Changer and Gaal, but the children find the King of Anthropos under the control of Lord Lunacy. The King will do anything to find and destroy his rival. The children must find the new King before he can...

Reader's Reviews[]

1[]

This is the fifth book in this series, and it does begin to feel like it. The story is relatively good, and I enjoyed the allegory to Jesus' arrival on Earth, but somehow the characters felt a little weak in comparison to the other books. Overall, it's a decent read, and it's very enjoyable to see the continuation of the series' storyline, but it doesn't quite live up to the standard set by the first four books.

Some minor violence, not described.

Various fantasy elements. The children time-travel to another world (Anthropos), where they are met by goblins, talking horses and so forth. There is a God who rules Anthropos—the Changer—and he has a son called Gaal (allegorically, Jesus). They intercede to help the children on their quest.
