Description[]
Charley, Charlotte and the Golden Canary is a picture book written and illustrated by Charles Keeping and published in 1967. A contemporary fairy tale about two children who grow up in the same street, are separated when one family moves to a new tower block, and are reunited thanks to a pet canary, it depicts the gradual disappearance of the London of the author's childhood, a common theme in Keeping's work. It won the 1967 Kate Greenaway Medal for outstanding work in children's illustration.
