It's August A.D. 79.

Around the Bay of Naples, tremors shake the ground, animals behave strangely, and people dream of impending doom.

Flavia Gemina, a Roman sea captain's daughter is spending the summer with her uncle who lives near Pompeii. With her friends Jonathan, Nubia and Lupus she is absorbed in trying to solve a riddle that may lead to a great treasure. Then the volcano erupts - and the four children find themselves in desperate danger.
