This book is the first book in the Super Sporty Series by Ellie Firestone. It was first published in August 2011 in a bumper volume with its sequel, Super Sporty 2: Two Horses, One Mission (The bumper volume was called Introducing Super Sporty). It was published as a separate volume in April 2015.
Sporty and her best friend, Harley, are two young horses who play basketball for Horsecitty's professional team called the Shorthorns. They're also superheroes.
In this, their first adventure, two new horses join the Horsecitty basketball team, but Sporty and Harley are suspicious when they can't throw or catch. Their superhero instincts prove correct when the new players kidnap Trinity, the team's captain. Realizing that Trinity's captors are actually a pair of evil aliens, Sporty and Harley must rescue Trinity before it is too late....
