Description[]

Elsie Dinsmore was born into a wealthy Southern family, though most of them didn't care for her because she was a Christian. She grew up without her father, mostly, but when he came back they overcame any difficulties and had a better father-daughter relationship. Over time, Elsie grows up and marries and even gets grandchildren as she lives through the events of the Civil War and the turn of the century.

(This series teaches historical events, Christian values, and morals. It is not to be confused with the more modern version that only has eight books and stops around Violet's (one of Elsie Dinsmore's daughters) childhood. The newer one is recommended if the reader wants an idea of the series before committing to a 28 book series, if at all.)
