Victoria, the heroine, was the middle one of a family of three girls. She was the plainest, most headstrong and most "difficult". She was the one who threw a bottle of ink at her governess on her confirmation day, and led an organized rudeness campaign at school, but she also invented the most original games. And however badly she did at school, her family always felt she would surprise them one day, perhaps with her talent for writing.
An autobiography of Noel Streatfeild, written by herself. She is Victoria in the book.
Great book, but a bit of a sad ending, with Victoria's brother getting killed.
